This week we put away the hunting garb, freshly washed. No elk this year. But the boys are all still practicing their elk calls. Even the baby.
Christmas is coming. It all fits in one box for us. Mostly beloved books. I own 6 ornaments.
This is my favorite Christmas bit. I got this nativity in Kenya, Dec ’05. All the pieces fit in the beautiful banana leaf box.
The stack of scarves for gift wrap is growing. The presents are going to be so pretty! I’m going to sew ribbon on some of them. I’ll be thrilled to not have a bag of paper waste on Christmas!
I finished this crown and dress for a little birthday girl today. I do so hope they fit. It is my most favorite thing in the whole world to give good gifts. The postman is my constant conspirator.

Thrifted this week: a Laura Ashley skirt. I seldom have time to try things on while shopping, so clothes for me from a thrift store are a rare thing. This makes me feel feminine and I love the medallion fabric. I’ll make it into a dress for my girly when I tire of it. $6.

A large piece of lace, thrifted for $2. An old tablecloth perhaps? Such lace has been used so effectively for stenciling furniture lately, I did consider that. But the needs of our household run closer to imaginative play. I flipped a quarter of it back on itself, sewed a casing and gathered it on a headband. I added a comb to keep it on and viola, another girly addition to the ever expanding dress-up bin.
Apparently it is necessary for princesses to spin. A lot.
