Hanky bunting stash

March 28, 2012 § 1 Comment

I once passed up a stack of vintage hankies and never again will that happen. These are the first two from which I hope to made bunting and a myriad of other project to come. Hankies at thrift store are rarely used. How could you blow your nose on such prettiness?

Art supplies

I’ve been able to find canvas’, boards, frames and paper for great prices at thrift stores. It is always good to keep a supply around.

Is it a vice?

To hoard fabric? Fabric is incredibly beautiful and endlessly useful. These two large pieces cost $3 or less at the thrift store and join a carefully curated stash. I have plans to make at least the red one into re-usable gift wrap. How silly we are to waste all that pretty paper each year! The blue is thick and hearty and the red is vintage and a bit chenille with raised fuzzy bits. Thanks to the sofa for modeling.

A simple gift bag/wrap idea here.

A cup of globalness

Thrifted to stash. Oh that stash! I struggle to keep it from growing too big to keep up with. Future projects, items that “just need a sanding and a coat of spray paint.” The tin measuring cup will join the others in my collection. I think I’m up to ten now, and I don’t know how they will be used in future. But they are cute! I’m thinking mobile or some sort of hanging installation. And the globe will be stenciled with something travel-y and globe-y. Painting is not my forte. Takes me hours of planning and graphing, but what an exciting end result it will be!
