Balance bike- product recommend

August 14, 2012 § Leave a comment

My oldest children are 6 and 5. They are working on using a 2 wheeler, but mostly just fall over. We got this balance bike through kids Woot. (Our brand is Treehaus, but any balance bike is probably good.)  And every minute for the last week the kids are riding it. The oldest has gotten the hang of the balance and can now ride the two wheeler! The thing they like best about it is they are allowed to ride it inside. It has rubber handles and no pedals to gouge things. It is adjustable and so fun to zoom around.

New pillow

I bought a new pillow. Full price! It was at Home Goods and of course I love the color, but it was that corner trim that I wanted. How unique! No mere piping here.

It is on the sewing table because I fray-blocked the edge of the butterfly and glued it down. The butterfly applique was sewn only in the middle and floppy and frayed. How may things do you buy and alter as soon as you get home? I do that a lot.

I snapped this up yesterday. A 12 foot orchard ladder. Just wait til you see what it becomes! Lovely smudgy thing.

Pretty much my favorite. $5 from a VA thrift store. Currently used as a side table in the master bedroom, but so many uses are possible!

Found in a weed-lot by a car-wash in Kansas. Was razor sharp.

Mother’s Day bouquet. Precious.

Bag addition

Thrifted for $3, this bag appears never used and is the fourth in my collection of the same bag in different patterns. Someday I’ll probably give them away as favors. The colors and size make them great for little girls.

Pinterest project- places we love

Hearts and maps go together so well, speaking wordlessly of the places you love or that have significance to you. There are tons of happy DIY projects with maps on pinterest. See here and here. So I got a US atlas and world atlas at Goodwill, about $2, cut out hearts of our places of birth and places we’ve lived, and put together a shadow box using one I’ve had stashed forever and a bit of blue painted artboard. It is personal and colorful and goes beautifully in a memory filled gallery.

It also makes a terrific gift!
