Pinterest project- Iron roses

September 20, 2012 § 4 Comments

I have had this set of spigot handles pinned for a long time. From an etsy seller whose collections I really love. But I didn’t want to pay $54. Something about the colors, size and texture I love. So I found a set of 20 knobs on ebay. A few needed help with color, but most are originally chippy, roughed and delightfully heavy. I used shadow boxes from Joanne’s with the glass removed. I like being able to touch the shapes, as if they are installed on the wall. And I have 2 sets! I’m having trouble with where to hang them. Which set do you like better?

I think I like the 2nd one better, because they are more the same size. It’s the accountant in me, I suppose…

I think I like the first one because it is slightly asymmetrical. Both are beautiful and somehow make me think of lace doilies.

I like the top one better… and I would hang it in the bathroom or laundry room! Or if I had a potting place, then there! =) Such a cool idea. Love your creativeness.

i love them both! they would look wonderful hung side-by-side. the repetition of form is fantastic! i have collected a number of old gauges from industrial machines…there’s something about industrial pieces (knobs, gauges, spigots) that are fascinating.
