Pinterest project- tried my hand at baby cacti

September 22, 2012 § 1 Comment

I also needed a pincushion. I do love desert plants. Symmetrical succulents and a visit to spikey Tucson also influenced the making of these little stuffies. Some pinterest inspiration here. I used thrifted bowls, scrap fabric, floral wire to shape, and playground gravel.

Pinterest project- Iron roses

I have had this set of spigot handles pinned for a long time. From an etsy seller whose collections I really love. But I didn’t want to pay $54. Something about the colors, size and texture I love. So I found a set of 20 knobs on ebay. A few needed help with color, but most are originally chippy, roughed and delightfully heavy. I used shadow boxes from Joanne’s with the glass removed. I like being able to touch the shapes, as if they are installed on the wall. And I have 2 sets! I’m having trouble with where to hang them. Which set do you like better?

I keep finding them; colorful, bordered, never-used old timer cotton squares. I have quite a pile now and will be stringing them up for bunting soon. But I can’t decide whether to hang them diagonally, or a squares. what do you think? Here are two examples: Square-hung and diagonal hung.

$4 thrifted. With skittles, all things are possible. And it gives a good economics lesson too.

Thrifted: such pretty old and sturdy rulers. $.79. Our school always needs these.

Butter soft deerskin lace-up boots for baby. $8 thrifted. Totally worth it.
