Pinterest project- awesome sauce!

This took me a few tries, a painted canvas hot sauce love note! I first saw this card and placed it on my pinterest “to make” board. I think it caught my eye because my husband consumes a lot of hot sauce and the Sriracha bottle is so iconic. My canvas is 8×10″ and as always I sketch very carefully to get shape and scale right. The lettering was tricky, I tried to mask my letters with painters tape, but it was so thin that the paint leaked under so I redid the letters witha toothpick. The long skinny letter are my favorite part I believe.
And now it hangs on the “I love daddy” wall.
I love this!
i LOVE this!!!!!!!! did you sketch the botte freehand?
Yes, from the inspiration picture.
You may have heard of it or even used it before, but another method for a project like this (retaining white areas while painting) is painting with liquid frisket.
It’s super toxic and smelly, but really useful stuff. I used to use Pebeo Drawing Gum (and would paint with it outside so the fumes didn’t knock me over 🙂
